although you have to go all the way to berkhamstead to find the rex, it's certainly worth a visit to experience a time travel when cinemas where luxurious.
with a huge screen and set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium and a high quality film projection, the seats are big, red and soft. you can also seat in the tables downstairs.
there's a no popcorns or flacid hotdogs policy. but you can enjoy a drink anywhere in the auditorium. we actually had a cheese platter that went quite well while watching 'looking for eric'.
and tickets are cheap but book in advance to avoid disappointment, as most sessions sell out pretty quickly...
