january is gone and we all thought that by now we would be out of debt.
but it continues.
and this why we love this exhibition (apart from the obvious interest in getting to know the artist himself)
«Installation artist Isaac Julien puts on his curator's cap and examines the prolific career of controversial filmmaker and artist Derek Jarman, who died of an AIDS-related illness in 1994. The Serpentine Gallery's exhibition coincides with the release of Derek, Julien's documentary about Jarman, and offers a wholly absorbing, comprehensive package of Jarman's experimental works in Super 8 film. From 1993's Blue to his series of "black paintings", Jarman's works deal with issues of isolation, sexuality and beauty.– Natalie Liechti»
at the serpentine, from 23 feb.
