“When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford”
Samuel Johnson (English Poet, Critic and Writer. 1709-1784)

just hearing "sailors" wonderful sound one can feel this will be a great album.

tickets available tomorrow!

they've got cronenberg opening and wes anderson closing. and lots of galas and stars in between. but the best about this festival is that one can just buy a ticket and be sitting next to david lynch during a screening, because everyone can attend the premieres (if you buy the ticket on time...)

and that is great!

but i will opt for a different approach. although i'm anxious for "the darjeeling ltd", i think the film festivals are meant to see films you wouldn't otherwise see in the commercial circuit.
with 184 features and 133 short films to be shown between 17 October and 1 November, it's quite difficult to make decisions.

but so far i have chosen:

. "the cool school": Morgan Neville explores the emergence and impact of the beat-era LA art scene

. "me & you. you & me": an assortment of short films preoccupied with relationships

. "london calling": a selection of short films from London's new and promising directors

i also wanted to attend the wes anderson screen talk, but it's fully booked already:(

BFI 51st London Film Festival runs from October 17– November 1.
Tickets can be booked from Saturday 29 September (which is tomorrow!!!)

au revoir parapluie

he is chaplin's grandson.

he grew up in the circus.

his favourite insect is the bee.

and he is coming back to the london stages.

from the 30th October to the 10th November at Sadler's Wells Theatre.

count me in, for i need some magic in my life once in a while. and this seems the perfect opportunity!

( after hours and days trying to upload a very good video from his last performance i had to give up. here is a clip from "la veillée des abysses": http://www.kewego.com/player/?csig=iLyROoaft9DX&sig=iLyROoaftkbu#a_playlist )

MO.TIV

it was a chinese restaurant. it was sold. and soon it will be one more tesco.

so that's when they decided to occupy the space and give it some personality.
in the first room everyone was allowed to paint the walls.
on the other, a guy was dancing with a white fluorescent tube light.
in what was once probably the kitchen, laid a naked woman: head with a burka, flowers in her body. all around candles and saints.
finally the last performance, started with a boy playing an accordion before he started baking bread.
in the other rooms, photos and videos.
but because this where all works in progress we will have at least one more chance to see the final results.
also there was free beer, home made bread and cheese.
it was all very secret, very illegal and very friendly. just how we like it to be!
(i've added links to the artists' websites so everyone stays updated)

one love

this year´s theme for the carnival was bob marley because "Thirty years ago Bob shacked up in London, wrote and recorded ‘Exodus’ and gave us the ultimate peace anthem, ‘One Love’."
i admit that before i moved to london i had never ever heard anything about this carnival. although it is the second biggest in the world.
