they've got cronenberg opening and wes anderson closing. and lots of galas and stars in between. but the best about this festival is that one can just buy a ticket and be sitting next to david lynch during a screening, because everyone can attend the premieres (if you buy the ticket on time...)

and that is great!

but i will opt for a different approach. although i'm anxious for "the darjeeling ltd", i think the film festivals are meant to see films you wouldn't otherwise see in the commercial circuit.

with 184 features and 133 short films to be shown between 17 October and 1 November, it's quite difficult to make decisions.

but so far i have chosen:

. "the cool school": Morgan Neville explores the emergence and impact of the beat-era LA art scene

. "me & you. you & me": an assortment of short films preoccupied with relationships

. "london calling": a selection of short films from London's new and promising directors

i also wanted to attend the wes anderson screen talk, but it's fully booked already:(

BFI 51st London Film Festival runs from October 17– November 1.

Tickets can be booked from Saturday 29 September (which is tomorrow!!!)

count me in, for i need some magic in my life once in a while. and this seems the perfect opportunity!

this time is for real and this classic london cafe will close its doors.
since 1951 this cafe has the same furniture, the same menu, the same friendly prices and the same glamour since its opening. respect!

i'd better start a tour around these places before they all turn into boring over-rated blandly starbucks!

wish list

it's a fact that london is one of the busiest cities in the world and that is why i moved in.

everyday i have more things that i would like to do, places i want to go... although i have done a lot in a year, it's hard to keep track of everything.

those of you who know me, also know that most of this events we'll be food or party related. but is there anything better to do?

so i will now start a wish list. i will delete each wish as soon as it has been accomplished.
please feel free to give ideas.

da hampstead picnic

finally the sun came out and it was possible to have a proper picnic.

where art thou? B. and his princesses could not find the spot:( it was a bit frustrating being so close and so far at the same time. next time it will be different because we will have good maps!

while we were trying to find them, we discovered the ponds, where some people have the courage to bathe. you can also find ducks bathing close by. shocking, to say the least!

food and drinks are the main attractions in an event like this. mini eggs are a must, so are the dips, fruit and brownie bites. i was basically eating whole afternoon! A. had the biggest bottle of pro-seco and opening the bottle was the picnic climax!

D. found a friend to play "clumsy" tennis. and i learned that sudokan has nothing to do with maths.

before leaving we still managed to film the google mail 10 sec video, having the wonderful view from parliament hill as scenery.

i am a beach addict, but after this i will have to reconsider the potentialities of this genre of outdoors activities.
